Description of Products/Services:
Retail Location: While Retail Operations is the more visible aspect of our Goodwill, it is our Donated Goods division that is responsible for getting serviceable, gently used donations into the stores. With over 100 donation boxes and 12 ADC’s (attended donation centers), the Donated Goods department processes all raw donations and decides the suitability of any given item for a particular purpose. Whether its clothing, home goods, sporting goods, or furniture all items are thoroughly inspected before ending up at a retail location. Items considered unsuitable for retail sales are also graded and sorted for recyclability. It is through the generous donations of our community that we are able to help in creating a bettercommunity.
Donation Center : Goodwill Industries of the Coastal Empire processes more than 386,000 donations of used-goods every year. The donations we receive help serve the community in several ways: 1) Consumers can stretch their dollars on clothing and household goods purchases; a particular bonus in these uncertain economic times. 2) Promoting recycling and environmental sustainability is an ongoing concern and our grading process naturally fulfills that goal by re-using and repurposing serviceable goods keeping them out of landfills. Thanks to our donor base we were able to keep over 10.3 million pounds of clothing and home goods in the system and out of the waste stream. 3) The Power of Work: The large majority of every dollar we raise is spent fulfilling our mission of helping people with disabilities and other barriers to employment find a greater sense of independence through competitive employment.
Donations are essential in maintaining our programs and services. Our retail program alone is responsible for employing over 300 people throughout the coastal region. We currently have 14 Goodwill retail stores.
Through our partnership with Dell in the Dell-Reconnect Program we provide an avenue for our donors to recycle their computers and computer related items in an environmental safe way. We have recycled over 242 tons of computers and computer related items and kept them out of landfills.
Job Connection Career Center : This program offers Computer and internet use to its customers as needed, job search assistance including weekly job leads, and assistance with online applications. Career counseling, resume building and interview assistance, and skills assessments for those havingtrouble finding a job are also available. Career Centers are equipped with computers, printers, Internet access, telephones, and fax machines to provide services at no cost to the community.
Our full-time staff is available at each of Goodwill's Career Center locations to provide assistance and guidance throughout the job search process. Our center assists individuals with a variety of needs, aimed at helping them reach financial stability. Services include job search assistance, learning how to get and stay debt free, low-interest loans and much more.
