Coastal Electric Cooperative Believes in Pink

This October, Coastal Electric Cooperative has made its office locations donation sites for Susan G Komen, which invests in breakthrough research in efforts to prevent and cure breast cancer.

The American Cancer Society estimates that this year, 252,710 U.S. women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer. They also estimate 40,610 people will die from breast cancer in 2017.

“With those numbers, you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone in our country who hasn’t been negatively affected or known someone affected by this horrible disease,” said Whit Hollowell, Coastal Electric Cooperative CEO. “Many of our employees have had friends or family members suffer from breast cancer, so this is a cause we are passionate about.”

Throughout the month, Coastal Electric Cooperative invites its members to join in the fight against breast cancer and donate at its Midway or Richmond Hill office.

“Thanks to heightened awareness and medical advances, people have a greater chance of survival than ever before, but we want to help increase those chances as much as possible,” Hollowell said.
