Pembroke, Georgia: Past, Present and Future Walking Tour

Richmond Hill Historical Society Lunch and Learn: “Pembroke, Georgia: Past, Present and Future.”  On March 2, Alex Floyd, director of the Pembroke Downtown Development Authority and the Georgia Mainstreet Program will discuss the history of Pembroke, Ga., and what the city is currently doing to preserve and promote North Bryan County.  The following day, the sixth generation Pembroke native will lead a 1.5 mile walking tour in Pembroke beginning at the Pembroke City Hall. The tour includes Strickland Street residential area, downtown commercial district, the Lanier Street block and College Street. Participants will see Pembroke’s oldest commercial building and oldest residence, the homes of Pembroke’s first three and fifth mayors (the fourth lived in a boxcar), the first buildings in Bryan County to have electricity, the Tos Theatre and many other sites.

COST: The lecture is free for members of the Historical Society, and $5 for non-members. A catered lunch will be available for $10 per person. The March 3 tour is $5 per person and includes a color map of the commercial area. Proceeds will benefit the Tos Theatre. Please RSVP to
