Fia Rua Irish Pub Ribbon Cutting Ceremony – March 13th

Please join the Richmond Hill/ Bryan County Chamber of Commerce, Richmond Hill Council members and Mayor Harold Fowler and other special guests for the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of Fia Rua Irish Pub located at 10134 Ford Ave. in Ford Plaza on Monday, March 13th at 11:30am.

Tucked away in the corner of Ford Plaza in Richmond Hill, a truly authentic Irish experience awaits you at Fia Rua Irish Pub. With its beautiful fireplace, woodwork, and Irish decor, you’ll fall in love with Bryan County’s “best kept secret.”  “Fia Rua” is Gaelic for “red deer” which can be seen mounted above their stacked rock fireplace in all its wondrous glory!

Fia Rua Irish Pub is owned by David Goodell, a retired Army officer and Florida native who relocated to Richmond Hill in 2009.  When Fia Rua first opened its doors in 2011, Goodell became a regular patron, enjoying the cozy, fun atmosphere that is a signature hallmark of Irish pubs. Goodell was hooked when he learned about the Craic Beer Challenge, a challenge in which finishers of the list become part of a distinguished club. The list features over 65 imported and domestic beers. Goodell started his list and “enjoyed” tasting the variety of different beers the Pub had to offer. Over a period of a few months, he earned the coveted “Craic Head” shirt and lifetime member card.

Many changes needed to take place once Fia Rua was officially sold to Goodell. He first set about fine-tuning the existing menu by ensuring there were true Irish choices from appetizers, soups and salads to world-class entrees and desserts. The new menu was reinvented to reflect a more traditional Irish dining experience. Among the new items added to the menu are the wildly-popular Irish nachos, a juicy New York strip steak sandwich, wild-caught cod fish and chips, 1/4lb bangers and mash, and succulent “fall-of-the-bone” grilled pork shanks. Menu selections were crafted by 31-year veteran chef, Douglas Pscholka, who worked under Chef Gordon Ramsey’s sous chef and even cooked for President George Bush. Fia Rua Irish Pub has some seriously tasty fare to enjoy.

The interior of Fia Rua was no exception to needed changes.  Goodell stripped out as much décor as possible that was not Irish in nature. Custom tables were ordered and built by a fellow military member consisting of vintage and classic beer coasters, tributes to our nation’s military veterans, first responders and historic Richmond Hill which is now on display for your dining pleasure.

Fia Rua Irish Pub is now open seven-days a week starting at 11 a.m. and offers a lunch and dinner menu with a brunch menu available soon.  Every day of the week has something fun happening too! Monday evenings feature Bingo, Team Trivia on Tuesdays, live music on Wednesdays and weekends, and once a month, Fia Rua conducts a charity fundraising event for local people and organizations in need.

Please join Fia Rua Irish Pub for the Ribbon Cutting on Monday, March 13th at 11:30 a.m. as we kick off the week leading to St. Patrick’s Day! Refreshments and food will be on hand!
